How CELIMO tyre construction helps reduce puncture risk

Four design elements help protect the tread, carcass and sidewalls of a tyre in demanding truck operations.

1. Multi-layer steel shield beneath the tread

Directly beneath the rubber tread are 3 to 4 dense steel belt layers made with cords from Bekaert. If a nail, screw or sharp fragment penetrates the outer rubber, the steel layers form another protective barrier and help prevent the object from reaching the inner carcass, causing air loss or damaging the tyre.

2. Active stone ejectors

Stones trapped in tread grooves can be pushed progressively deeper under repeated loads. Special Stone Ejector geometry at the bottom of the grooves actively pushes stones out as the wheel rotates and limits stone drilling into the carcass.

3. Resilient natural-rubber compound

The tread compound contains a high proportion of natural rubber from Thailand and Malaysia. Its high elasticity allows the rubber to flex and adapt when it meets a sharp stone or edge, helping reduce the risk of tearing or puncture.

4. Reinforced sidewalls against cuts

The sidewall contains an additional higher-density rubber layer. It helps protect the tyre from sidewall penetration when it comes into contact with sharp kerbs or rocky edges.
